If we know better then why don’t we do better?

Soul EscapeWe joke about this, we laugh about this, but worse we beat ourselves up about this!

With the best intentions we make a decision…………..

“Sam” decides he needs to get organized. After all it will help his stress and his productivity. He buys the books, follows the advice but after a couple weeks everything is a mess again.

“Sally” decides she has had it. She is going to lose weight and start exercising. After all she knows it will make her look and feel better. She revisits her old diets or maybe spends money on a new one. She’s off to a great start, feeling good, only. A few days later she’s back to her old ways.

“Betty and Bob” are arguing all the time. They can’t remember why or how they ever fell in love. They decide to try the advice they heard on Dr Phil. After all they want peace and happiness. Try as they might it's not getting better.

Sam, Sally, Betty and Bob all know what they need to do. But they don’t …or “can’t” do it.  Eventually they feel like failures. Each one believes that it's just they way they are -- but these beliefs are untrue.

A parent, teacher, minister, friend or relative overtly or silently instilled our beliefs. Now they run our lives as truths about ourselves -- and we believe them.

We all have these core beliefs that keep us from being and achieving our greatest potential -- beliefs that prevent us from living healthier, balanced more joyful lives.

The trick is to recognize them, heal them, and then be who we really are.

These beliefs are like weeds. No matter how many flowers (what you do, what you wear, how much money you have) you plant among them, the weeds are still there and need to be pulled out.

They will keep your garden from being as beautiful as it can be.
