How are you feeling?

FeelingsFeelings are more important than we realize and yet we seem to acknowledge a few of them.

I hear “Fine” and “Good” a lot in my office. Behind those two words is a plethora of feelings and suppressed emotions. So many people are living life ignoring how they feel.

Feelings are indicators of our mood — our reality if you will. Our emotions are the expression of those feelings.

So when you say “I feel sad”…………..are you smiling?
When you say your “fine” are you really angry?

  • How many times are you being incongruent with yourself and how you feel?
  • How often are you pushing down how you really feel for the “good” of everyone else?
  • How often do you think your feelings don’t matter?

Feelings are indicators of how you're doing and can be positive guides for your life -- if you pay attention to them.

If you don’t acknowledge your feelings you are quite literally hurting yourself. You are denying who you are and are telling yourself that you do not matter. When you care about someone you ask them "How do you feel?"—and you want to know the truth — and yet you won't be honest about your own feelings.

So what are you doing with those feelings? Are you eating them? Drinking them? Are you yelling at people who don’t deserve it?

What is it you do you not want to feel?
What would happen if you started being honest with yourself and others?

If you're feeling joyful and happy, look at your life and do more of the things that make you feel that way!

If you're feeling angry and resentful, look at your life and see what needs to change.

Your feelings matter. They are important to your well being and quality of life. Pay attention to them and express them in healthy ways.

If you have trouble knowing how you feel and trouble expressing those feelings, call or email me. Your life is waiting.

Sincerely,
