Go For Your Gold!
I’ve been watching the Olympics and I can’t help but be in awe of the athletes. Their commitment, drive, focus and determination is so inspiring to me. The pride that I feel for them — you would think I knew them personally. I'm thinking I’m not alone ... that most of America is feeling proud of our athletes.
While we are basking in the good feelings of what commitment and talent can accomplish let's not forget that we all have talents as well. Maybe it’s not in athletics and we don’t compete with the world but that doesn’t make our gifts and accomplishments any less important.
I think is important to remember that, even though these athletes probably made sacrifices in their life and dealt with self doubt ... even though they may have gotten injured or didn’t always win … they did not give up and they didn’t let go of their dream.
This is the one thing that sets an Olympian apart from some of us.
I often hear people say that they want something ... to be healthier and lose weight ... to start their own business ... or follow an artistic passion. Many people are wishing that things were different in their lives. As hard as they try — even if a commitment was made – it’s not long before the fear and self doubt pops up and the dream is dead.
So why does this happen and what can you do about this?
Those fears and self doubt come from conscious or unconscious thoughts and beliefs. At one time, or maybe several times, you may have been told that you weren’t good enough or maybe you weren’t told but it was suggested by a look or a withholding of love. However it happens, we store that untrue information and it has the ability to sabotage our very dreams.
As you imagine yourself being successful, as you say what it is that you want, notice the thoughts that arise. Do they sound something like “who are you kidding” or “I’m not smart enough” There are countless negative thoughts that stand in the way of your dreams. Addressing these negative thoughts and core beliefs is they key to your success. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a great tool to use for this very process.
This technique can help uncover the hidden thoughts that sabotage you. It can help change the habits and negative thinking that stand in the way of your dreams. Stop letting the past and unconscious thoughts control you. Let EFT help you get your power back and take you to your dreams.
If you have a passion and a desire for something, there is no reason you cannot be and feel the same sense of accomplishment that an Olympian might. Maybe the whole world won’t know about it and your face won’t be on the box of Wheaties but true fulfillment is a personal thing anyway.
If you are tired of failing to achieve your dreams why not use EFT, (emotional freedom technique) to go for your gold?
